The shortest war in history was between Zanzibar and England in 1896. Zanzibar surrendered after 38 minutes

The origin of the war is pretty boring- some drama involving Zanzibar (then a territory of the British Empire) wanting to elect one Sultan as their leader, and the British wanting another. What IS startling is that 500 casualties were sustained in that short time before Zanzibar surrendered. Jeez!
